About The Flowers Project
The Flowers Project is a set of 50 flower photographs by Jules, an artist based in Los Angeles. Each shows a bloom or a small bunch against a flat colored backdrop, and half share the frame with barbed wire, a chain or a fence. Every token has two looks. While ether holds at or above its price of a day earlier, it is a clean studio photograph. When ether trades below that price, the same picture plays through a CRT screen, striped with scan lines and shivering in a short loop, as in Flower #01.
Jules picked and staged real plants for the camera, then ran the photographs through a circuit-bent CRT that adds glitches and feedback no one can predict. A first run on a shared marketplace contract in late 2021 was planned at 100 photographs. Six left the artist's wallet, five of them as sales, and all six were back by mid-December. On July 4, 2022, Jules deployed a new contract and minted all 50 in one transaction. It reads Chainlink's ETH/USD feed, compares the latest price with the one about 24 hours before, and points every token at one of two sets of files on IPFS. All 50 switch together.
Jules calls the loop the work's "final state," and the contract lets the market decide when a collector sees it. In July 2024 came The Flower Garden, where other artists remake every Flower: CYDR's versions were airdropped to each holder, and Olivia Pedigo's, rebuilt in 3D, followed in November 2025. Jules describes each Garden token as bound to its Flower onchain. The Garden was shown on screens outside a garage at Roys in Marfa, Texas, in 2025. In 2026 Jules launched Birds, a living onchain installation of 100 songbirds.
What to look for
Object
Half the flowers were shot with something hard beside them: barbed wire on 14, a chain on 6 and a fence on 5. The other 25 show the plant alone.
Flower color
6 of 8 valuesThe color of the bloom in the still photograph. Pink covers 20 of the 50 and red only five. In the CRT loop the colors can drift or flip to their opposites.
Series
The metadata gathers 24 flowers into three sets of eight, named Simpler Times, Fun Times and Green/Blue. The other 26 belong to no set.
