About Snowfro
Snowfro is the artist name of Erick Calderon, who was born in Mexico City and lives and works in Houston. He spent 18 years in a ceramic tile company he started with his father, and his art moved through video projection, 3D printing, sculpture and code. His brother told him about Bitcoin in 2013, and once CryptoPunks appeared in 2017, he told Decrypt, "it all clicked."
In November 2020 he launched Art Blocks, a platform for generative art that is created on Ethereum at the moment a collector mints it. Its first release, Project #0, was his own Chromie Squiggle, capped at 10,000 tokens. Venus Over Manhattan gave him his first solo gallery show, Snowfro: Chromie Squiggles, in New York in February 2022. Sotheby's sold Squiggle #1780 in 2023. The last Squiggle, #9999, went to LACMA as his gift, and MoMA added a set of eight in 2025. ZKM Karlsruhe and ICA Miami also hold his work.
Bookends (Study), an edition of 50 for PROOF's Grails in August 2022, pairs handmade ceramic bowls with a generative composition. In 100 Untitled Spaces, minted in person with Bright Moments in Mexico City that November, each output is a spare, code-built interior holding a single canvas. /// (2023), released with AOI, draws on Formula One racing. heart + craft (2023), made with Jordan Lyall, pairs each digital output with a 3D heart that owners can build. Every token of LIFT (a self portrait) (2025) comes with a playable Game Boy Advance game. send/receive, one of the three projects that closed Art Blocks' AB500 series in December 2025, links all its tokens, so each collector's choice to send or receive changes what the others show. ZKM holds send/receive #8506.
