Other World

Other World is a pseudonymous digital artist based in Los Angeles. Most of the work starts from a classical painting, which the artist takes apart as collage and redraws with a new story. The scenes fill up with fiends, hooded figures in bright robes with black faces, and the artist sums up the approach as "dark art with bright colors." Other World never went to art school, holds a PhD in biomedical engineering and says that scientific training colors the work's outlook on life and morality.

The artist began drawing digital collages on an iPad during the pandemic lockdowns. In November 2020 Other World minted Earth Eaters on SuperRare, a collage on Murillo's Two Children Eating a Melon and Grapes in which the two boys become creatures from outer space and the fruit they hold becomes the planet. Later pieces name their sources: Burning Hearts reworks Pietro Angeletti's Apollo and Daphne, and The Garden Karl Bryullov's The Last Day of Pompeii. Sotheby's sold The Garden in its GRAILS: Starry Night sale in January 2024 and Burning Hearts in its Digital Art Day Sale that August.

PROOF released Visions in 2024, twelve works that tell one story in parts, each paired with a framed print signed by the artist. It was Other World's first solo exhibition, shown at Soho House West Hollywood during Frieze Los Angeles. In April 2025 Avant Arte released Dogs of War, a print edition of 25 with glow-in-the-dark silkscreen details, each paired with an NFT, after Peter Nicolai Arbo's The Wild Hunt of Odin. Artprice put The Thinking Fiend (2024), a fiend posed as Rodin's Thinker and sculpted in 3D by Léo Caillard, on the cover of its 2025 Contemporary Art Market Report.
