Beeple

Beeple is the working name of Mike Winkelmann, a digital artist based in Charleston, South Carolina, who studied computer science at Purdue University. His pictures and animations mix pop culture, politics and technology, and much of his recent work satirizes big tech.

On May 1, 2007 he set himself a rule to finish and post a new image every day, a project he calls Everydays, after Tom Judd's year of daily drawings. He has kept it going ever since. His first Nifty Gateway drop, the Genesis collection, included the 1/1 CROSSROAD. A December 2020 drop followed with THE COMPLETE MF COLLECTION, one token holding 20 works. In March 2021 Christie's sold EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS, a collage of his first 5,000 images and the first purely digital work offered by a major auction house. HUMAN ONE, a sculpture of four screens around a walking astronaut whose world he keeps updating, went to Christie's that November.

HUMAN ONE was later shown at Castello di Rivoli, M+ in Hong Kong and Crystal Bridges. In 2023 Castello di Rivoli took FTX BOARD MEETING into its collection as a gift from the artist, and Beeple opened Beeple Studios, a studio and gallery in Charleston. The Deji Art Museum in Nanjing opened his retrospective Tales From a Synthetic Future in 2024. The Shed and LACMA showed Diffuse Control, an AI image sculpture, in 2025. Regular Animals, robot dogs wearing lifelike heads of tech founders and artists, printed what they saw at Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2025, then went on to the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin in 2026.
