Breakable

For Inktober 2018, the prompt was breakable. I thought about a figurative idea of what can be broken, and thought that the heart would illustrate the idea nicely. Words and painful experiences can hurt in the worst ways, and kept this idea when creating this piece. So I drew this image of the straining organ in a traditional style of a heart, but with notable leakage of blood, as well as stitches and bandages that are attempting and yet failing at holding the wounds together after so much abuse. The fishing hook through the artery was also supposed to be figurative,as in the phrase 'heart on a string'.
