Tahliah

Tahliah: Portrait of British musician Tahliah Debrett Barnett - FKA Twigs

The piece is from my series of illustrations by the working title ”Loved Ones” where I depict my favorite female musicians. This project was started in 2016 and when it’s finished, it will include 9 portraits. Currently there are 3 portraits: Claire Elise Boucher - Grimes, Jonna Lee - iamamiwhoani / ionnalee and Tahliah Debrett Barnett - FKA Twigs. These drawings are highly realistic, based on the photographs of singers / producers but with the minimalistic graphic elements. Black and white drawings made by pencil are brought to life by the supple coloring of pastel shades. The focus is primarily on the facial features, the expression concentrated in the soulful, prominent eyes, unlike, for example, hair which is almost completely ignored. This drawing represents the merging of my greatest loves, illustration and music, which is the reason, I guess, I find to be the best representative of my art.

In my work I try to combine traditional and digital ways - the drawing I do by hand, using the basic tools, pen and paper, afterwards I scan my drawing and lastly I color it and do the final modifications in Adobe Photoshop.
