Liberate Yourself 眼皮底下

Between 2017-2018 I had a plan to create virtual reality art. I began saving for an Oculus headset, and made plans to create VR art similar to that of Sean Eads, who has always been an inspiration to me. After delving into that world I enjoyed it at first, but at the same time, I was learning many life lessons away from the computer. At the end of 2018 I woke up to many unhealthy life choices I'd been making.

That winter I trudged outside through the snow with my VR headset in hand, and threw it in the trash, choosing to get rid of a piece of technology I believe to be self-serving and divisive. We all make personal choices, and sometimes standards based on morals will cause us to do things which seem illogical at the time, but will cause us to look back and smile.

I created this by taking a digital picture of myself with a VR headset, running it through several programs including GIMP, a pixelator, an animator, and then switching it to graphic interchange format.
