Daughter of Zeus

Athena, in Greek mythology, is the embodiment of wisdom, reason, and purity. The twigs symbolize knowledge and wisdom emanating on her head. She exudes purity as she pose an outward behavior and bearing.

This image is a collective effort. Shot on location in Mariveles, Bataan (the location of the Bataan Death March, April 1942).

The shoot just lasted 3 minutes but it’s months in the making. Timing and weather was crucial. This was photographed during the typhoon (hurricane) season to get the dramatic clouds. When the sun peeked amidst of the angry clouds, the timing was correct and the shot made.

(Notes by creator: my team scoped locations seldom seen. After identifying the perfect location, the locals asked us if we were bitten? We said yes, gnats and mosquitoes. They said, no, snakes!? We didn’t know, at the time of the shoot, that the location was infested with snakes. That’s probably the reason we felt numerous holes amidst an overgrown waist-deep grass. I dropped my lens cap and I said it’s probably landed on one of the holes. I searched and searched, with my hands, with no success. So I gave up. Lucky for me, and lucky for us that the snakes hid on typhoons. This was a rare shot. I would never ever do it again.)
