A Glimpse of the Night

This animation is the result on my side of a collaboration between another great artist, Olivier Klompkes, and me. We both work with glass in the "hard" world, and it was his idea to make some "soft" artwork from our pieces - I liked the idea a lot. The initial idea I had did not lead to the result I wanted, so I threw away the work and started new from almost zero - I kept the background image, a beautiful, starry night, courtesy of Mohan Reddy Atalu (on Pexels.com). I wanted to create a piece with a quite hypnotic touch, so the first step towards this goal was having the (original glass) pieces spinning slowly. Smooth transitions are designed to maintain the flow of the movement, all goes from one step to the next without any sudden change. Apart from visuals, a powerful bass (at least, on one of my systems it sounds like it should) is meant to underline the fact that this is not so much made for rational interpretation, but for feeling it, for letting it sink deep into our conciousness, and through it, to touch our subconscious. What exactly each observer will feel there is (hopefully) different for every case, I only wish you all enjoy the beauty and mystery glass objects sometimes reveal to us.
