Here Come the Aliens of the Plant World

Inspiration for this piece is Vashti Bunyan's Come Wind Come Rain (Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/70NvAzAG7m95PdTJt5q7D8?si=008fb85cdb6041db). It was when I came across an article about her and then listened to her incessantly over a weekend where I took a macro lens out to shoot garden flora.

While the connection may seem obscure, it was trance like, hours of shooting with an otherworldly focus with the intention of doing something different and song repeating like chant.

Back to the visual part of the story, the Alien in question is actually a leaf that has made worm or two happy. It actually had the eyes and the mouth in place. I took the shot and the only major photographic adjustment was to use the same custom filter I created for the project on this one as well.

This was all during the second half of 2020 and as of recently when I thought about how I could mint it, my GIF fascination took over and I created a set of surreal GIFs from material which I edited in to a video file with environmental sounds. Thus Here Come the Aliens of the Plant World was born.
