Cardi B burst onto the scene in 2018 with a sound, attitude and style like no other. From stripper to pop star she was/is a package conceived in an executives office and strategically delivered to appeal to Gen Z in a way where singing about your vagina would seem normal to a 3rd grader. She’s a shining example of musical consumerism designed to sell to an unsuspecting demographic and push the boundaries of classism, taste and culture. Through the lens of John Carpenter’s 80’s cult classic, They Live, Cardi B fits into the narrative perfectly.
