THE DARK ARTS

You will hear all throughout your life that magic is not real. The thing about magic is that it's invisible. All of reality is what you think about. If you think about food, you will act in a way that provides the most opportunities to receive food, that is magic. To pretend that magic is not real is to reject a reality where it could be real, since you choose how you experience your reality, you are not just you; I am you, the air is you, everything is you. Entering into the meditative state, you forget there ever was a you. Things speed up and space becomes more dense. You are falling into a black hole, you hit the singularity and everything that ever was is now not, and anything that was not, now is. Create the reality you desire by forming your singularity.

This piece was done as a sort of exploration in the idea of magic, sprinkled in with my immediate unfiltered thoughts while doing the piece. The large hands and face in contrast to the size of the light being standing upside down is the relationship between consciousness and subconsciousness. These objects lying around are almost remnants of an unknown self that this light being is excavating and trying to understand. To get to this world yourself, you would transition to non-ordinary reality through meditation. Inside your awareness you would imagine yourself climbing into a hole in the ground, sitting at the trunk of a tree, or climbing down a ladder in this case, within this piece. The ladder intersects a grid, this grid is space-time; climbing down this ladder symbolizes exiting one side of space-time and entering on the other. The transference of the light being down a ladder through space-time means that the other side of it, the subconscious or collective unconscious mind, is a physical place to be visited and experienced.

In the lower half of the piece, there's a crystal ball. If you can remember from the film "The Wizard of Oz'', a crystal ball shows Dorothy her Aunt Em looking for her and the Wicked Witch of the West communicating with her. The ball in this piece is sort of similar in that it's a medium to communicate with a divine spirit in order to change the subconscious mind. Changing the subconscious results in changing your actions regardless if you're aware of them, and ultimately changing the course of your life. The secondary smaller crystal ball on the left with lightning shooting from it is representative of a Tesla coil. A Tesla coil is an electrical resonant transformer circuit designed by inventor Nikola Tesla, and was planned by Tesla to play a part in telegraphy, or the long distance communication of text messages. This lightning emitting from the Tesla coil throughout the lower half of this piece visibly connecting the light being and remnants of it's subconscious, is the idea that the first-person mind is a node of energy transmission. This interconnection through the story of life as a network is the dark art of collective enlightenment.
