TIME TO WAKE UP

It's time to wake up.

The term "TIME TO WAKE UP" is a double entendre. On one hand, you have the literal meaning of being asleep. The flashiness of the clock's screen is a visual for the urgency to wake up, maybe you're late for work or part of your house is burning and you don't realize it because you're asleep. On the other hand, it means being aware of an absolute reality rather than a relative one. In some of the frames of the clock's screen, I allude to certain concepts that I've talked about in previous artworks and writings about the nature of reality and the ether of consciousness. The light being is standing on the inside of the clock because they're dreaming. The clouds and mountains in the background mixed with the metallic foreground give this a surreal nature. On the right there is Ethereum encapsulated in a glass cube inside the pool and in the animation there is a divergence of a cube, signifying the splitting of wealth between people with the rise of decentralization. Inside the clock the light being's subconscious resides and on the clock's screen there is a shadow being, two polar opposites to consciousness. The shadow is the unknown "dark side" of our personality — dark both because it predominantly consists of depreciated human emotions and impulses, and because, due to its unenlightened nature, it is completely obscured from consciousness. When we accept this shadowed nature of ourselves, seek knowledge without pride, physically keep the divergence of wealth happening through decentralization, and do anything in our power to make the world a better place while standing in truth, we can surely hope to wake up.

One of my inspirations for part of this artwork was the music artist SOPHIE, specifically the design she had implemented in the music video for her song "Faceshopping"; the song touches on concepts of self and whether how artists present themselves make them any less authentic, as well as the consumerism of artists as metaphorical products.
