This work is a collaboration with the musician Oly (@OLYsounds on Twitter), who composed the song for this NFT.
A transhumanist boy, integrated into the surrounding machine culture, stares toward the sky with pensive ambition. On his shoulder is a machine budgie, and in the initial scene the only natural features are the sky and Moon.
As the boy powers up and comes online, in his vision appears an organic budgie. Just as the machine budgie mimics features of a natural bird, the natural budgie has developed color camouflage to harmonize with the techno environs.
The energy of the bird and figure builds toward a crescendo; a vision of light pushing beyond the boundaries of the scene. The song synchronizes with the emphatic suggestion of transcendence. The work as a whole speaks to the inspiration to elevate past circumstance, while also alluding to the symbolisms of dystopian propaganda.
