Gnosis /ˈnəʊsɪs/
noun
knowledge of spiritual mysteries. This work began after being inspired by Rona Lee Shimon, an Israeli actress and model. She is known primarily for her leading role in Fauda. I found her beauty to be simply overwhelming and sort to create a work with her as the muse entwined around the theme of knowing oneself. The work tries to capture the chaotic complexity of our external lives - primal, jarring, murky and often NOISEY. Contrastingly, the gateway to her inner light opens in the centre of her chest and ultimately connects to her mind (captured as a serene light blue sky). This artistic endeavour is a self affirmation that while one's external circumstances may be down right chaotic, a grounded mind and a compassionate, open heart will always be able to navigate its way through any storm. This inherent yet cultivated stability lies in a rooted knowing that we are spiritual beings, having a human experience.
