$-The double-slit experiment, also known as the Young's experiment, shows that light exhibits wave properties. The photoelectric effect shows that the light has a particle property as well as wave property. In the simple version of the experiment, a coherent (in phase) light source, such as a laser beam, illuminates a thin plate with two parallel slits made, and the light passing through the slit is observed on a screen behind the plate. The wave nature of light allows the light waves to interfere through both slits and form light and dark bands on the screen, which cannot be expected if the light is completely particle. However, it is always seen on the screen that light is absorbed, as if it were composed of particles or photons. This situation introduces the principle known as wave-particle duality.
