Levity of Mass

During the pandemic I have experienced moments where everything felt fragile, when the very foundation of our world seemed extremely vulnerable. I'm sure we have all encountered some sort of sense of fear this past year and searched our inner-selves for strength and courage. One night I was working on a calming music loop that needed to be complemented by delicate yet strengthening visuals. I guess it was like a therapeutic way to translate what I was feeling into art/music While researching physics simulations and relationships between weights dynamics, I stumbled upon a technique that visually represented properties of elasticity and impact wonderfully. I then explored the possibilities around this idea and became fascinated with the prospect of representing the contrast between the lightness of Bubbles and the idea of attributing strength and resistance to these delicate and short lasting objects. While doing so I realized how powerful this image can be and I like to interpret this work as a metaphor for the power of creativity: a form of fragile harmonic magic that allows us to see things in new ways and challenge our perception.
