Book of the forgotten

It is the third time this book mysteriously appears in front of her porch. Is someone playing games? She takes a deep breath to control her fear and cautiously picks it up rather than throwing it in the bin. Nothing happens, "it's just a book", she whispers to her self. She tilts the scratched cover of the book towards the bright light of the moon to get a better view of its detailed engravings. A shimmer of blue glows through the pages for an instant. Failing to replicate what just occurred, she tries again, aiming the book at the dense woods. It happens again. Like a moth to a light bulb, her curiosity pulls the hypnotised young woman out onto the field and into the woods.

Once surrounded by nothing but tall trees, she feels an urge to open the book. She doesn't dare to look around to see where she is, the light feels safer to stare into. She controls her pounding heart with a long sigh and lifts the book up above her head.
