The Best Present

"The Best Present is PRESENCE."

This creation is about a child neglected because his parents are too busy. He's celebrating his birthday with a cake (made with Play-Doh), he draws his parents on the wall, wishing his parents are there with him. Though his parents satisfied his needs and wants by buying toys and presents to him, his deepest wish is wishing his parents could spend more time with him.

Many parents nowadays are busy working in order to earn more money. Due to the rising cost of living, they have to work hard to make ends meet. But, keep in mind that, our children need our presence more than our presents. Kids don't need more things, kids need parents who spend time with them. At the end of the day, the most vital key to a child's healthy growth and development is the positive involvement of the parents.

Spend more time with our loved ones, it's precious. We can always make more money but we can't get back time... The best present we can give someone is our PRESENCE.

"PRESENCE is a timeless gift. Giving the gifts of time and attention is not only important for young children but for older ones as well.

So... invest our time in our loved ones. Ask questions about their life and world. What excites them? What scares them? What worries them? How do they spend their days? More importantly, how do they feel about the things they talk about? Notice their emotions and name them. Let them feel that we've gotten of glimpse of how they experience the world. Toys, books, clothes, electronics - even if they are appreciated, they neither touch the heart nor have a lasting impact the way that listening, engaging, empathizing, affirming, and praising do.

Presents are temporary; a loving presence is forever." - Dr. Robert Ritzema
