2020 was a horrible year, but it gave us an opportunity to reflect on the things we want to avoid... It ALSO gave us an interactive VR experience, "2020: The Ride"! Now out on Steam and Itch.io, I worked as the lead 3D artist on this cinematic game between Novemember/December. We had this donkey model animated at the end "political" section of the experience. We were such in a crunch time I had to finish this model from beginning to end in one day to make sure we weren't off schedule. We were all happy the way it came out.
For this piece, its execution recalls back my older mixed-media techniques from so many years ago. The combination of my scanned brush strokes and typography to circumscribe the figure is just something I always liked and makes it look experimental. It's been my intention to go back to my "roots" for some time and I think the way this turned out balances with my newer techniques.
