The Hulk. Paragon of the primordial nature of anger. A physical manifestation of rage powered by interstellar gamma ray bursts, the most powerful explosions in the universe. The angrier he gets the stronger he gets. Is he a man or a monster? How does his mind cope with the drastic transformations his body goes through?
As a comic book artist, The Hulk was my favorite superhero to draw. The sheer power, the mass of his frame, it was a great character to explore physicality through illustration and with this original piece I wanted to engage, not just the illustrative aspect of the Hulk, but the mental anguish I imagined his brain to go through. The best way for me to deconstruct that idea was through motion art, combining sounds, ticks and movements to elucidate the glitches of the Hulks brain.
Collaborating with brilliant producer and sound engineer Gully Duckets, we tried to visualize the synapses and impulses of the Hulks untempered mind, we imagined the pressures and pain caused by the flickering schisms of a cosmic power that was never meant for a human mind to control.
