Purple poison, magenta light - the neon clouds enveloping, slowly suffocating, ironically illuminating. Is she a villain? Perhaps a saviour? Mystery unfolding, closely observing, concluding the truth... exists not.
This illustration was so sweet to paint - I wanted this fluffy and, at the same time, liquid neon magic, the dark purple with the bright neon, a demonstration of power and empowerment, a blending of opposites but with immense contrast.
I love working with paradoxes and painting the idea of "it's not what it seems." It's been a recurrent theme in my work lately, when the manifestation of power can be appear to be evil, and the realization that there's no evil or good, power just is... powerful.
