Tristan and Isolde

The story of tragic love between lady Isolde of Ireland and sir Tristan of Cornwall is well known, so actually no one thinks about it nowadays. Ah, Tristan and Isolde, sure... but sure - what? Were they two youngsters who had accidentally drunk love potion so strong that nothing could keep them apart from that very moment? Thus they had to lie and to use dirty tricks to fool old good Mark, king of Cornwall and Isolde's husband, because they didn't want to hurt his feelings, after all he was like a father to Tristan, and Isolde loved him too very much. Or was there a totally different story? A story of two adulterers who couldn't resist the temptation and shamelessly betrayed the trust of people around them, broke the vows , used other people to cover their affair and made everyone suffer around them? These are quite opposite versions, but everything between them is also possible and in some sense everything is true. Reality does depend on human perception, and people's opinion can truly shape it though not always in the best way. Was there love? Was there lust? Did they struggle desperately against the whole world and their conscience, or did they enjoy their affair disregarding the world that crumbled apart? Well, only you can say, what does this story mean for you. Here's Yanka's interpretation, and it is different from all I've said above. You can read her artwork like it was a book, you can walk into it like it was a world, you can experience it like a strangest dream. Hope you'll enjoy it.
