The work of the Japanese master, Hokusai is legendary. In this piece, I have used a CC0 photograph and used it to create an image in the style of the classic image, 'The Great Wave'.
The girl's wind-blown hair takes on the colours of the original woodblock print and becomes the flow of the waves. The ancient and the modern combine harmoniously to produce an evocative, animated portrait.
