Decimator

Orbital resource probes. These pillars scavenge nearby planets in order to collect rare or scarce resources. In some instances where unidentified new materials were detected, a decimator may pin point the source and travel in a rouge-like fashion to inspect. Once a threshold of materials is reached, they begin to give birth to identical clones, maximizing their efficiency of mining a planet. When the decimators deem a planet dead, the orient themselves to prepare for mass drive orbital take off, ultimately leaving a planet lifeless. Some venture off to new lands to continue searching and some deliver the resources back to its creator. It is still unknown who or what created these beasts.

It arrived on Earth in 2227. Humans detected signals and deep space movement outside our galaxy. It was determined the anomaly was headed on a direct path toward Earth. Over years of monitoring, it gradually slowed down until it reached our atmosphere. The whole world dropped everything to witness the new unknown. Over a month period it idled around multiple continents and oceans, likely surveying the new environment. On May 7th, 2227, it stopped over the Mediterranean Sea, near the Cyclades. Finally, it showed more movement, unfolding its arms out in every direction, locking into place loudly. Some cheered on the decimator, unknowing to its nature. Some cowered in fear of the impossible becoming a new reality. Our destiny was already decided, it would be the end of our home.
