Love Light

Love Light... Falling in love is easy. Staying in love is the great art. It’s like this with life, with people, with work, hobbies, and practices.

The attraction of love is itself, part of the challenge, because when we feel it, we never want to let it go.

But love cannot be contained, controlled, or compelled. Love only arises when we freely awaken to its presence. What we can do is nurture and invite love by polishing smooth the fears and desires that keep us dreaming rather than awakening. What we can do, is hold the flame of love for each other, reminding one another by making our own enlightened moments visible through loving words and actions.

In this way, we pass the flame back and forth between us. We pass it back and forth between our partners and our family members. We pass it between generations, keeping it alive and burning brightly.

The cycle of loving partnership, loving community, and I think, a loving world, is about each of us kindling that fire and reminding each other of its satisfying warmth when the night has begun to close in, and the memory of love has become cold and distant.

Staying in love means remembering that it is available right here, right now. Loving means being part of that process of remembering.

I want to remember love, and when I do, I will remind you as best I can. And when you are full and present with love, will you help me remember as well?
