Hera

Another time HairofMedusa and Gala Mirissa collaborates again, joining our creativity and friendship to create Hera.

Our Hera was born the 1th January 2022, as a way to tribute all the fighter and temperamental women.

Hera was one of the twelve Olympians and the wife and also sister of Zeus. She is the goddess of women, marriage, family and childbirth in ancient Greek religion and mythology. She was the daughter of the Titans Cronus and Rhea.

Homer described her conflictive relationship with Zeus in the Iliad, ,after all his infidelities, in which Hera declares to Zeus: «I too am a deity, our lineage is the same and the cunning Crono is the most venerable, because of my ancestry and because I bear the name of wife. yours, you who reign over all immortals. ”

In one occasion more , Zeus falls in love with a maiden, this time of Io. To possess her, Zeus, will throw a thick mist into the world, turning himself into a cloud, in order to be with the maiden and thus not be seen by his wife. Hera will find them together and, in a jealous rage, will turn Io into a white calf. She entrusts her friend Argo, the hundred-eyed giant, to watch over the calf night and day. Argo never slept, since at night he rested with 50 eyes, keeping the other 50 always alert.

However, Zeus entrusted the mission to the god Hermes, the messenger god, of wit, cunning and lies. Hermes appeared in the olive tree where Argo and the calf were, disguised as a shepherd, and used the sweet sound of his flute to completely put Argo to sleep, at which point he killed him by beheading him and finally rescued Io.

Hera, victim of anger and pain, commemorated her faithful guardian Argo by placing the hundred eyes of the giant on the feathers of the peacock, Hera's favorite bird, so that she could continue to see the world through the ages.
