"The Art Toys Market - 1884" is located in the dimension in which the elements of the present and the past meet, creating an alternate reality. The moment in which the work is narrated is while an auction of Art Toys characters is carried out in the black market of living beings and with those present desperate to obtain theirs no matter at what cost.
Inspired by Jean-Leon Gerome's work "Slave Market in Rome" from 1884 and the different Art Toys that have emerged until 2021, the work creates a new scenario by narrating a story parallel to ours with these characters as humans who they were marketed at the time. But there is an irony ...
In this work I pay tribute to the creators of Art toys which are the characters that have changed pop culture in the 21st century: Kaws, Cote Escriva, Super Plastic, Toykers, Joe Ledbetter, Gondekdraws, Ron English, Kanokid, Popobe , Artefactoinc and Coarselife
Mixed technique using various image editing programs and some elements integrated with 3D
