Description

Da Vinci’s famous “Vitruvian Man” (1490) illustrates the architectural principles of Vitruvius, a Roman architect who described the proportions of the human body in his work, “De architectura.” To Vitruvius, the proportions of the human represented a unique relationship of humanity to both the secular and the divine, signified by Da Vinci with the square and the circle in his drawing. Vitruvius and other architectural scholars believed they could carry over this symmetry of the human body into the realm of architecture.

Da Vinci’s original drawing resides at the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice, Italy, although it is rarely displayed because the drawing is fragile and must be constantly monitored and protected from direct light. The drawing is over 530 years old, and it’s fragility requires that it be hidden away.

In our digital age, a glitched homage to Da Vince and Vetruvius can be displayed on countless devices at any time, without fear of corruption, and stored on the Ethereum blockchain, incorruptibly, forever.
