Some of Cadillac's most important engineering & some of their most beautiful cars, appeared from 1941 to 1949. Like sister division Buick, Cadillac gave its cars a facelift around '41. then issued completely new styling that left it in a good market position as civilian car production resumed World War II.
Most '40's Cadillacs were relatively plain, almost Chevrolet-like in front with simple bar grilles. The exception was the splendid 'Sixteen', which wore the egg-crate radiator theme first seen for 1937, and soon to be a Cadillac fixture. All models benefited from more-reliable sealed-beam headlamps, as did most Detroit cars that decade. I'm more of a fan of sports cars, but I have liked the limited edition Cadillacs. Cool!
