The Calm Before The Storm

It is midnight and she is hungry. The three men who’ve been following her all night and who are now approaching her, don’t seem to have a good a sense of intuition for their own safety as they casually dressed men fleeing into the dark archway clearly do. Perhaps it’s because they’re wearing their matching light-weight, armoured onesies and they have their auto-targeting, neural networked, laser rifles trained on her. Perhaps they just don’t know when to quit. But, they ought to have noticed how still everything is around them and how calm she is. The buzz of the neon signs is a distant, dying whisper. Even the dust and raindrops are hanging in the air, waiting to see what she will do. And then there are these guys who clearly really don’t have a clue. They are foolish enough to believe they’ve been chasing her, that they’ve cornered her by this noodle bar, and that they are about to capture or kill her. While all she is thinking about is a quick snack, then moving on again.
