HVY WAVES THREE

In 2013, I was diagnosed with Upper Motor Neuron Syndrome (UMNS), which is a fancy way to say… something is causing your tremors, but we really don’t know what it is yet… probably not Parkinson’s (hooray!)… but it could be ALS (damn… that’s worse). Simultaneously, I had suffered from a seemingly unending series of migraines. Decades worth. Between the UMNS and the migraines... I had a series of EEG tests to examine my brain... find out what was wrong... or rule out what wasn't wrong... or just find out why I was the way I was.

The tremors and the migraines come and go... but my love for music and an obsession with examining my own brain remains. Over the last year... I have gathered three of my EEG results and charted the five patterns (delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma) of the EEG brainwaves, and assigned them an audio-reactive frequency (Hz). Matching the EEG pattern as closely as I could… I assigned particular sounds to each Hz and added a corresponding rhythm… in short… I made music from an EEG. An audio-reactive visualization of my own brainwaves. Is it the first of its kind? Possibly. But who cares. I had a blast making it. And my two sons can have the music of my mind on-chain long after I'm gone. I hope you enjoy it too.

The HVY WAVES series is comprised of three 1/1 pieces. Each piece contains a unique audio-reactive composition. The Thinker sits in motionless contemplation in the center but surrounded by LED monitors and speakers like the constant flow of thoughts and sounds that flood my brain on a daily basis. Day by day I’m learning to let these externalities flow through me while my mind is still, undisturbed by the anxiety-driven world that encases us.
