A gentle breeze whispered through broken panes, ruffling feathers both attached and free, giving a semblance of life to those grounded in perpetuity. A mosaic of winged specters carpeted the floor, painting a history in a spectrum of plumage.

The building, time's casualty, had cradled lives and legacies, now amounting to Eleanor's claimed sanctuary, where the clumsy flutter of pages echoed the beating of wings. There was a purpose in her solitude, a rhythm in the silence that surrounded her like a familiar melody.
