for three thousand years a poem has been trying to get home,
surviving the way its hero did, by being no one, by being retold, by arriving each night a little more worn than it left;
this is a clock that lets it keep going.

nobody's clock
single-file html, javascript, canvas. the complete text of homer's odyssey, samuel butler translation, public domain, rendered as a 24-hour clock: one book per hour, each book recited line by line across its hour, the full poem completing once per day. all compositions are generated exclusively from the text of the current book and reduced to one-bit toner by ordered bayer dithering. hourly generative decay by macroblock displacement, smear, and quantization; compositions seeded by date, decay drawn live and unrepeatable. the sha-256 of the embedded corpus is computed and displayed at runtime. self-contained, no network dependencies, runs offline indefinitely.
exhibited at museo anahuacalli, mexico city · [encuentros digitales · 08.08.2026-08.15.2026]
