## Description

While considering how I wanted to portray this week’s #art-challenge555 phrase, Whale of Fortune, I was reading a story by Karen Russell in her new book Orange World. I was so taken with the important role of a small yellow bird in it that my initial drawing was a giant yellow canary riding a blue whale. For multiple reasons and time constraints, it didn’t turn out anything like my imagination, so I pixelated that one and it is now the background for this piece. The story is called The Prospectors, so the influence stays clear. Thanks also to my #MakersPlaceCo cohort, Jarid Scott for the double vision incentive.
