NOCTURNAL ANIMALS

My paintings happen inside water. The process involves drowning the artwork in traditional Chinese ink and water mixture, sometimes on top of prepared studio surfaces and sometimes inside Brazilian river waters. The concept is vast but mainly about the flow of our lives. Nocturnal Animals joins as a separate arm to my body of work. I have always enjoyed drawing b&w insects and animals of my imagination. Eventually, I began digitally amalgamating these drawings with colorful and weird objects photographed inside an aquarium. After blending these images in the computer, I decided mirroring them to obtain a Rorschach Test-like final Product. I began to collect them and named them digigraphies. In 2016, when developing the ink and water paintings, I unsaturated the digigraphies to harmoniously blend them together. I never imagined they would return to their original colors. I was even more surprised to learn about their potential on a digital platform. In collaboration with Canadian artist JF Lemay, who added life to my images, I am developing my first digital art collection.
