## Description

This piece is dedicated to my mom's ex-boyfriend. He was a huge inspiration to me growing up. At the time, I thought he was everything a man should embody. He was strong, kind, and giving. Nothing meant more than family. 

But he had his own demons, things that I would grow to understand. 

Where we lived, there wasn't much work. so unless you were skilled labor, half the year was spent unemployed. So for 6 months of the year things were great, big promises and empty dreams. The other half filled with trips to the food bank and binge drinking. Nights spent fighting with my mother about caring for us both. 

He may have been far from perfect but I wouldn't be who I am today without him. And even at his worse, I still loved him.
