## Description

With this piece I am following my inspiration with my Tarot series and chose to start working on the Major Aracana from the thirteenth card; the Death. 
Death is one of the most iconic and naturally considered the scariest of the cards in the Tarot. Of all the renditions of Death, I found the depiction as a knight on horseback featured in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck most fascinating visually and symbolically, and I wanted to base my drawing on that - of course taking it to my own direction from there. It is often said that when interpreting the cards, death is not to be taken literally but as a signifier of a major change in ones life. However, while working on this piece besides relation to change, I have also been contemplating on the actual death and my experiences with it. When i manage to separate my feelings of grief and regrets from it and look beyond the individual tragedies, it is possible to imagine death as this noble knight that stays true to its mission till the end of time.  While death can often seem untimely and unjust, like a parent that can't be argued with when it is time to put the games away and go to bed, similarly there is serenity and a strangely even kind of benevolence to its character as its authority comes from the natural order of things.
