## Description

"It is worth selling your everything for a taste of Ilish"  or Hilsa -so the saying goes. The best ones are seasonal and riverine now restricted by weight ,they appear in the market for a small sliver of time and is snapped up. Frozen?- nope - it has to be fresh caught.

I would tag along with dad to the nearby market and there will be. great ceremony of deciding the price and more often than not that fish will be cut in front of you - I would cry for the dead fish and then trot back home and in a couple of hours eat it - the fickleness of it all.

Packed with ground mustard, green chillies , mustard oil and turmeric - then steamed - it is spicy and brilliant.

And when you are dressing the fish - Solomon , the cat has to be there
