## Description

Tall, bottle shaped kilns were a common sight in England in the early 20th century producing bricks and earthenware goods. The West Hallam Art & Earthenware Company in Derbyshire produced individual pieces of art pottery until it closed in 1933.

I was fortunate to live locally and to see the transformation from a derelict site to a new and successful art and craft centre in the mid 1980's. In this piece, I have depicted a semi-abstract image of the pottery in its heyday, nestled in the village.
