## Description

People's idea of a Phoenix as a mythical bird of fire is romantic. However, it is not the full story. Its fiery form is but a transient state as it only appears amongst the flames as it is reborn from the ashes of its predecessor.

In this image I have created a Phoenix in its 'everyday' guise as a noble, splendidly plumed bird that lives for 500 years before it is reborn in the flames. Here it appears in a fine feathered gown, with its wings outstretched, almost in a curtsey.
