## Description

For much of my career, I have focused on painting imaginary portraits of shamans, mysterious men and women that serve a vital function in most "primitive" societies, providing a point of contact between mortals and the spirit world.  All of us have questions and face the yawning darkness of the unknown and unknowable.  I see these beings as fellow travelers at the edge of the abyss that awaits us all.

After over 40 years of painting these figures, I began to become stale and bored with them, but now the availability of powerful digital tools is allowing me to reexamine the very foundations of the series I started so long ago.

This is a great example of one such new interpretation, and I expect this type of imagery will form the foundation of a new voyage of discovery for me.  Hop aboard and join me in the adventure!
