## Description

Do you have a message for me?
I asked the crow that had suddenly appeared out of the random scribble, as they tend to do. I looked out of the window and saw a pillar of smoke rising amidst the woods on the horizon. 
I saw the charred tree trunks and the fleeting critters in my mind and i shivered. Apparently some lumber machine had ignited a fire further out earlier and there was also some warehouse burning nearby that was spewing toxic fumes into the air. I smelled it and felt the smoke in my eyes and closed the windows as advised. I felt a spark inside me as well and that is how the crow became the smoke and the the burning forest came to be.
I looked through the other screen and Twitter was burning as well. I had just thought about unfollowing these news sites as i didn't want to deal with what was coming out of their chimneys daily. I soon realized this wasn't the time to do it, although part of me wanted to look away. It took me a while to start fully grasping the situation. A man named George Floyd was killed by the police in an arrest and people in United States and all over the world stood up against the injustice that black people face every day. The masses of people marching peacefully in protest did not seem to attract the same attention as the violence and looting that occurred as a side product did. There were some inspiring images, where some of the police stood with the crowd but, there were some terrible and disgusting ones too.  Luckily I avoided most and i would not repeat the things i saw here. There was one in particular one that broke my heart but it did open it as well. Few people reminded me of the band Bad Brains and as i was listening to it the crowd appeared in the drawing and it all started to come together. The bottom of the scene was all black at first and i made the buildings grow from bottom of the trees, i was quite pleased with my genius. I showed it to an friend who clearly was not as impressed and i was pushed to do something more with it.
I was eager to finish the piece and then came an opportunity that was calling for me to try something new. I was interested to try glitching and found a very simple way to do it with a text editor. That was quite exciting and it actually looked pretty good. I even considered using only that image but i had an animation in mind. I would use that image in the end but I continued working on the drawing and decided to add the white buildings to the right and keep the black forest to the left.
This was not an entirely unproblematic choice because of current situation has made me aware how language could be used in oppressive way in relation to color. As in black would be evil and white always good. That juxtaposition is not my intention here, but the colors do have  their meanings.
The inspiration comes from the High Priestess card in Tarot with black and white pillars on her either side.
Here the dark side symbolizing the wild,subconscious and the light side order and rational mind. the little excavator is there digging away at the subconscious and the helicopter is up high assessing the situation and putting out the fires. The statue on the side of order is being pulled down as in reality, some structures need to make way. Everything is pointing to the middle where the scale is calling for balance and justice. As the work was finished i thought about going without the animation, as i thought it distracted from the drawing itself but decided to keep it. It is reminds me of focusing on what is happening at the moment and that nothing is permanent.
