## Description

The market square is the central and historically important main square in the old town of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany and is considered one of the largest marketplaces in Germany. In addition to the Hall Market, it is one of the medieval settlement centers of the city.

Among the most important and dominant buildings in the square include the Red Tower, the market church of Our Lady, the town house, the Ratshof, the department store "Julius Lewin", the market palace and the Handel monument.

The south-east side of Halle's market has been incomplete since 1945, with the historic council scales and the old town hall standing between the townhouse, Handel monument and Ratshof.
