## Description

In our works BERMUDA and RORSCHACH BEACH we had experimented with using forward-travelling aerial images to provide the majority of movement. With RITUAL we went the other way – the flying machine (in this case a Bell 407 helicopter) stayed completely static, looking vertically down on a rock inhabited by sea birds. Only the rolling sea and the tri-pronged reflections introduced movement.

Using military-precision gyros in our camera and lens system, we were able to produce, even in the high blustery winds found offshore at the location, images of profound stability.

Just as with RORSCHACH BEACH a familiar animalistic face appeared out of nowhere, giving the piece a ritualistic quality. The face of a goat revealed itself to us in the edit suite which then informed the direction we took the music.

The music has multiple layers, instruments and beats which synch with the rhythm and flow of the vision.
