## Description

I shot this image at the iconic viewpoint Tungeneset that you can find on the amazing island Senja in northern Norway. The view towards the jagged ridges of the Okshornan mountain range is one of the most dramatic views i have encountered on this planet. The Okshornan mountains are also known as the "devils jaw" and every time i visit this place i think that is spot on.

This place emanates a special force to me. No matter which conditions i find during my visits, it always looks spectacular!

I have visited northern Norway frequently since i started landscape photography a little over ten years ago. As the years evolved, my style of landscape photography evolved and my images gained popularity through social media- i realized that i had to stop trying to take as many images as possible on my photography trips.

Instead i started focussing on creating images to convey special feelings. And capture them when the conditions that nature deliver are right.

Skadi is the goddes of winter in norse mythology- and i absolutely adore winter in arctic Norway. I wanted to portray this place in the most winterish conditions possible in order to convey the feeling of beeing exposed to the forces of winter. I could not have envisioned this image in any better way- after several attempts i arrived on location after some days of very cold weather.

As soon as i reached the location, i just knew that the day had come to finally capture this vision of the arctic winter.
Everything was frozen, the sea was starting to get angry and new snow storms started moving in from the arctic sea.

I took a deep breath, let the scene work on my mind and felt an absolute joy! With a big smile i went ahead to a rampage of photography that yielded many of my personal favorites to date.

This image is a single exposure that i postprocessed to my likes to match my unique style of landscape photography. If you visit this location, there will be no surprises- the landscape looks exactly like pictured here!
