## Description

Our Brain's neuro-transmitting system sends signals of nerve impulses.
The brainstem takes in, sends out, & coordinates the brain's messages. It also controls many of the body's automatic functions, like breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, swallowing, digestion, to blinking our eyes.
Sensory neurons transmit nerve impulses from sense organs, [eyes, ears, nose, tongue & touch] to the brain. They also carry nerve impulses to the brain and spinal cord. Motor neurons transmit nerve impulses from the brain and spinal cord to a specific area of the body.
When neurons communicate, the neurotransmitters from one neuron are released, cross the synapse, and attach themselves to special molecules in the next neuron called receptors. Receptors receive and process the message, then send it on to the next neuron. Eventually, the message reaches the brain.
