Aliens have watched humans on our fragile Earth a long time 

They're like scientists in a lab seeing how mice respond, thus it's a belief they're here to watch we don't destroy our Planet. They're disgusted with humankind playing with dangerous things, as Nuclear weapons, noticing senseless polluting, seeing people as a greedy species. It's our "Fast-food society" mentality since the 1950's caused a mindset to produce things faster, low to middle class work faster, longer, over multi-task, which has made the wealthy even richer. Humans still have a Neanderthal lobe in our brains, causing us to act foolishly, react with hate & be selfish. They've listened to other species angry at humankind. McDonald's Attack is a wake up call, next may be Walmart. Then, World Peace negotiations.
