## Description

Venice is about 5 kilometers long and consists of 124 islands, 178 canals and rios, and 438 bridges. The rios are smaller and are not always waterways. The most famous canals are the Grand Canal-which runs through all of Venice and ends at St. Mark's Basin, the Cannaregio Canal-which connects the Grand Canal with the northern part of the city, and the Giudecca Canal-which divides the island of Giudecca from the Sestriere in Dorsoduro.
