## Description

A zombie is a mythical, physically animated undead who has risen from the grave and is created by reanimating a corpse. Zombies are mostly found in horror and fantasy genre works. The term comes from Haitian folklore where a zombie is a dead body brought back to life through various methods, usually magical, such as voodoo. Modern media depictions of the dead often do not involve magic, but science-fictional methods such as disease carriers, radiation, mental illness, vectors, pathogens, parasites, scientific accidents, etc.

The English word "zombie" was first recorded in the history of Brazil in 1819 by Robert Southey as "zombi".
